WHY CLARKSDALE?

You might be asking yourself Why the heck are they getting married in Clarksdale? They're not even from there!

Glad you asked, you're not alone.

Like most of you may know:

  1. CHRIS has been spending the past few years working with the Quapaw Canoe Company and the Lower Mississippi River Foundation, which are based in Clarksdale.
  2. AMANDA joined the Rivergator Expedition for a stint, earlier this year, paddling and camping on the Mississippi River with Chris and the Quapaws.
  3. BOTH were enamored with THE TOWN OF CLARKSDALE and THE PEOPLE who live there, and hope to share its goodness with ALL OF YOU.

TRAVEL NOTES

From Memphis International Airport:

Quickest and closest airport into which you can fly. Great opportunity to walk over the Mississippi River, eat world-renowned barbecue, and most importantly, reflect at the National Civil Rights Museum at the Lorraine Motel - where MLK was assassinated) here: https://www.civilrightsmuseum.org.

We are hoping to set up a shuttle on Friday (Oct 19th) from Memphis to Clarksdale, as well as on Sunday (Oct 21st). Get in touch with us if you're interested in riding with the pack. Otherwise, you can rent a vehicle.

***Once you get to Clarksdale, you will be able to walk everywhere - including the venue.  There are also Ubers and taxi cabs available, if needed.

From Jackson International Airport:

A little bit farther, but if you're curious about the capital of Mississippi - also home to the Mississippi Museum of Art (http://msmuseumart.org)  - or towns like Vicksburg (on the Mighty Mississippi River, and great town!) or Indianola, this might be your choice.

GREYHOUND BUS FROM MEMPHIS, TN

Screen Shot 2018-01-08 at 1.42.28 PM.png

Greyhound is the only bus operator that could transport you from Memphis to Clarksdale, but it's a great option if you wish to fly in Thursday (after work) to visit Graceland, Beale Street, or have dinner at Central BBQ. For example:

  • Fly to Memphis, TN
  • Have dinner/visit museum/see live music on Beale Street
  • Stay at modest hotel (i.e.: Sleep Inn at Court Square right on the Mississippi River; Chris has stayed there and recommends)
  • Take 9:30am Greyhound to Clarksdale to arrive by 11:00am

You can also take the bus from most places in the country to Clarksdale, just expect to add a few more dollars and days to your travel. For instance, NYC/Philadelphia to Clarksdale leaves at 3:15m/5:30am (respectively) on Thursday 10/18 and arrives by 11am the following day.

LOOKING FOR A REGISTRY?

WELL, THERE ISN'T ONE.

Our current and future homes are already full of "things" to fill our daily lives.

We are consciously trying to reduce that amount, even still.

We are extremely grateful you want to give a gift, but your presence at the wedding is a beautiful present, in and of itself.

So please, no gifts!

If you are able to join us in Clarksdale, and you still want to lend a hand, we have an idea:

Why get a gift "equal to the amount of a dinner plate" when you can pay for your dinner plate? Help us cover a little of the cost (if that's in your interest).

If not, no worries! we completely understand and will feed you all the same. "Pay what you can!"
